  • My credit card is about to expire but I can’t update my automatic payment details.

My credit card is about to expire but I can’t update my automatic payment details.

In most instances, there is no need to update your automatic payment details when your credit card reaches its expiry date. Our system will automatically extend your card expiry date in line with its usual validity term (generally 2 or 3 years).

If you do try to update your automatic payments while an update to your card's expiry date is being applied you may see an error message.

If it’s only the expiry date you need to change, no action is required. The automatic extension will be applied from the beginning of the next calendar month.

If the problem continues, if you need to make other urgent changes to your automatic payments details, or if you’re concerned your travel may not be covered, please contact our customer care team.

Do I need to update my automatic payment details when my credit card reaches its expiry date?

In most instances, there is no need to update your automatic payment details when your credit card reaches its expiry date. Our systems will automatically extend your card expiry date in line with its usual validity term (generally 2 or 3 years).

Most financial institutions will continue to accept automatic payments as long as the automatically extended expiry date matches the expiry date on your new credit card.

Occasionally, the validity term or the card number may change when a new card is issued and your automatic payments will fail. If this does happen, and your account balance falls below your trigger amount, we will send you a low balance alert and your e-TAG will beep multiple times to indicate you need to log in and make a payment.

Any automatic payment failure will be highlighted in the automatic payments section of the My Account home screen, next to your account balance.
