Transurban Credit Reporting Policy

Transurban respects people’s privacy. Transurban is bound by the credit reporting provisions in Part IIIA of the Privacy Act and the Credit Reporting Code registered under the Privacy Act.

This Credit Reporting Policy describes how Transurban manages credit-related information about individuals (credit information). Transurban may modify or update its Credit Reporting Policy from time to time by publishing it on Transurban’s websites including transurban.com.au/crp. This policy does not apply to the collection or use of credit related information about corporations.

Transurban will ensure that all personal information (including credit information) that it handles is managed in accordance with the Privacy Act and other applicable laws protecting privacy. The commitment of Transurban Queensland to manage credit-related information is outlined in the Queensland Motorways Privacy Policy.

Credit information collected by Transurban

Transurban collects information about customer accounts, payments and defaults in the normal course of its business operations.

Credit information Transurban collects from Credit Reporting Bodies

Transurban does not collect any credit information about individuals from Credit Reporting Bodies.

Credit information Transurban discloses to Credit Reporting Bodies

Transurban may disclose credit information (including default information) about an individual to Credit Reporting Bodies and debt collection companies, where that individual is in payment default.

The types of credit information that Transurban may disclose to Credit Reporting Bodies include:

  • identification information, such as your name, address, date of birth and driver’s licence number; and
  • that you have defaulted on a payment due to Transurban and the amount of the default.

Transurban will provide at least 14 days’ notice of its intention to disclose default information to a Credit Reporting Body before making any such disclosure. Transurban does not disclose any credit information to any recipient located outside Australia.

Access and corrections

An individual generally has a right to access credit information that Transurban holds about them. An individual may also request that Transurban correct any credit information that Transurban holds about them that the individual believes may be inaccurate. Complaints and external dispute resolution

If an individual wishes to make a complaint about the way Transurban has handled his or her credit information, or a failure by Transurban to comply with the credit reporting provisions in Part IIIA of the Privacy Act or in the Credit Reporting Code, the individual may do so by contacting Transurban Customer Relations in writing, by mail or email to the address or email address set out at the end of this Credit Reporting Policy. Transurban will endeavour to deal with any such complaints within 60 days.

A complainant may also refer a complaint for external dispute resolution by the Tolling Customer Ombudsman. As at the date of this Credit Reporting Policy, the Tolling Customer Ombudsman’s contact details are as follows:

Definitions

Credit Reporting Body means those credit reporting bodies Transurban may deal with from time to time. As at the date of this Credit Reporting Policy, Transurban deals with Veda Advantage Information Services and Solutions Limited (ABN 26 000 602 862) and Dun & Bradstreet (Australia) Pty Ltd (ABN 95 006 399 677).

Credit Reporting Code means the Credit Reporting Privacy Code registered under the Privacy Act

Personal information means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or about an individual who is reasonably identifiable.

Privacy Act means the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Transurban means:

  • each of Transurban International Limited (ABN 90 121 746 825), Transurban Holdings Limited (ABN 86 098 143 429) and Transurban Holding Trust (ARSN 098 807 419) by its responsible entity Transurban Infrastructure Management Limited (ABN 27 098 147 678) (the ‘Stapled Entities’);
  • each company in which the Stapled Entities, whether individually or collectively, own (directly or indirectly) more than 50% of the voting shares; and
  • each trust in which the Stapled Entities, whether individually or collectively, own (directly or indirectly) more than 50% of issued units, but does not include Transurban Queensland.

Transurban Queensland means Queensland Motorways Holding Pty Limited and the entities it owns and controls (either directly or indirectly). Transurban Queensland is a related body corporate of Transurban but is not included within “Transurban” for the purposes of this Privacy Policy.

Transurban Road means any road in Australia that is operated by Transurban, including CityLink, Hills M2, Lane Cove Tunnel, Eastern Distributor, Westlink M7 and Cross City Tunnel.
