You might need to make a return trip to the airport, or perhaps it's a day full of errands. Using CityLink will save you time, but it's a one-off trip so you don't want to commit to opening an account. Our 24 hour passes let you make as many trips as you like over a 24 hour period.     Which section of CityLink does a 24 Hour Tulla Pass cover?

    The 24 Hour Tulla Pass, referred to as the '24 Hour Limited Pass – Tulla Only' in the CityLink Passes Customer Service Agreement, is valid for travel on CityLink between Flemington Road and Tullamarine Freeway/Bulla Road.

    The 'Tulla Zone' is the northernmost section of CityLink before Melbourne Airport.

    How does a CityLink pass work?

    A pass is a convenient option if you only use CityLink occasionally. 

    You can buy a pass before you travel or if you've already travelled, you can buy a pass within 3 days of your trip. For Weekend Passes, you have until midnight on the Tuesday after the weekend on which you travelled.

    There's no need to display a pass in your car, but you may want to keep the receipt for your records​.

  • What is my vehicle class?

    What is my vehicle class?

    The class of your vehicle, along with the distance you travel, determines the tolls you pay. It is important to know that vehicle class is determined by certain physical attributes such as vehicle size, seating capacity, construction design, weight/mass. Whether the vehicle is used for personal or commercial use does not determine the vehicle class.

    The vehicle classes are:

    Motorcycle:


    • A two-wheeled motor vehicle, includes motor vehicles with a trailer or side-car.

    HCV - Heavy Commercial Vehicle - any:


    • Two axle rigid vehicle with a cab chassis construction, with a gross vehicle mass that is greater than 4.5 tonnes;
    • rigid vehicle with three or more axles and a cab chassis construction that exceeds 1.5 tonnes;
    • articulated truck, or;
    • a bus seating more than 12 people.

    LCV - Light Commercial Vehicle:

    • Any two axle rigid vehicle with a cab chassis construction, with a gross vehicle mass that is greater than 1.5 tonnes but less than 4.5 tonnes.

    CAR:


    • A car is any motor vehicle, including if towing a trailer or caravan, that is not a:
      • Motorcycle
      • LCV
      • HCV

     

    Vehicle classes on Melbourne's toll roads are set out in the contracts both CityLink and EastLink have with the Victorian Government and are determined based on each vehicle's size, weight and configuration. These classes, first established for CityLink in the mid-1990s, are consistent across both motorways.

    There are 4 different CityLink passes. Where you can travel depends on which one you buy.
