Number of trips on a Late Toll invoice
The Late Toll invoice will reflect trips aggregated over three consecutive days of travel. The number of trips made on those three days will be displayed on the invoice. If you travelled on one day only, those trips will be shown. If travel occurs on the fourth day, a new Late Toll invoice will be issued.
Aggregation time period on a Late Toll invoice
The start time of the three day aggregation on a Late Toll invoice is at 00:00:01 each day. For example, if the first day of travel is 01/07/07 and last day is the 03/07/07, the aggregation time starts on 01/07/07 at 00:00:01 and continues until midnight on the third consecutive day of travel.
Late Toll invoice implementation
The issuing of Late Toll invoices to customers who travel unregistered on CityLink came into effect on 1 July 2005. All unregistered travel undertaken before this date will result in the issue of an infringement notice.
Payment terms for my Late Toll invoice
You have 14 days to pay from the issue date of the Late Toll invoice.
Paying a toll administration fee
The toll administration fee includes CityLink costs of invoicing your unregistered CityLink travel and a government look-up fee that covers the cost of accessing vehicle registration databases.
How to pay for a Late Toll invoice
You can pay your Late Toll invoice via any of the current CityLink payment channels, including on-line.
GST calculation on a Late Toll invoice
The GST amount included on Late Toll invoice is calculated as follows:
The GST amount included on the Late Toll invoice is the GST component of each trip (trip price divided by 11) plus the GST component of the toll administration fee (fee amount divided by 11).
For example:
Toll amount = $5.32
GST amount of toll = $5.32/11 = 0.4836 (this amount is included in the toll)
Not the driver at the time of travel
If you were not the driver at the time of travel stated on the Late Toll invoice we suggest that you provide the driver with a copy of the invoice for payment. The driver may contact CityLink or use one of the payment channels to pay the invoice. This is a simple process that does not require the completion of any forms.
However, the owner of the vehicle will ultimately be responsible for the Late Toll invoice, when they nominate the driver.
Nominating another driver
If you choose to nominate another driver for the Late Toll invoice, you will need to provide CityLink with a full and complete statutory declaration detailing:
- Late Toll invoice number
- Trip(s) you would like to nominate
- Full name, address and contact details of the person you are nominating
We also request that you make the nominated person aware that you have nominated them.
Personal details and a Late Toll invoice
CityLink’s confidentiality agreement with VicRoads allows CityLink to obtain vehicle owner details for the purpose of issuing a Late Toll invoice.
CityLink forwards to VicRoads the registration numbers of vehicles detected travelling on CityLink without being registered with CityLink. VicRoads checks its database and provides CityLink with the vehicle owner’s name and address details. CityLink issues a Late Toll invoice using this information.
Late Toll invoice final notice
If the invoice has not been paid in full within 14 days, a final notice will be issued with an additional fee on the Final Notice.
Where the payment terms on a Late Toll invoice final notice have expired, a payment will not be accepted by CityLink and an infringement notice may be issued by Victoria Police.
