Plan your travel - Multiple road closures on CityLink this coming weekend
For your travelling convenience, please be advised that the following works will be happening on the Monash-CityLink-West Gate upgrade project leading up to, and over, this coming weekend which will affect traffic on the Southern Link Section.
Please note: These closures are in addition to the planned closure of the Domain Tunnel this Saturday night. Click here to find out more about the Domain Tunnel closure.
Tuesday 1 July, Wednesday 2 July & Thursday 3 July 2008
The left hand and centre lanes of the CityLink carriageway inbound between Toorak Road and the Yarra River crossing will be closed from 8:00pm until 5:00am.
The speed limit on the inbound carriageway will be reduced to 60km/h for the duration of the works.
Friday 4 July to Monday 7 July 2008
The left lane of the CityLink carriageway outbound between Yarra Boulevard and the Yarra River crossing will be closed from 8:00pm Friday 4 July through until 5:00am Monday 7 July 2008.
The speed limit on the outbound carriageway will be reduced to 60km/h for the duration of the works.

Left lane closure: Friday 7:00pm to Friday 8:00pm
Left and Centre lane closure: Friday 8:00pm to Saturday 5:00am
Left lane closure: Saturday 5:00am to Saturday 8:00pm
Left and Centre lane closure: Saturday 8:00pm to Sunday 8:00am
Left lane closure: Sunday 8:00am to Sunday 7:00pm
Left and Centre lane closure: Sunday 7:00pm to Monday 5:00am.
There will always be one traffic lane available for through traffic at all times during the works.
The speed limit on the outbound carriageway will be reduced to 60km/h for the duration of the works.

The Gibdon Street entry ramp to CityLink inbound will be cloased to traffic from 8:00pm until 5:00am the following morning.
Wednesday 9 July 2008
The Yarra Boulevard exit ramp inbound will be closed from 8:00pm until 5:00am the following morning.
It is advised that if you were planning to exit at Yarra Boulevard during between 8:00pm and 5:00am you should instead exit at Toorak Road to Williams Street and on to Loyola Grove.
Reasons for works
Works are being carried out as part of the Southern Link Upgrade project.
The Southern Link Upgrade section of the Monash-CityLink-West Gate upgrade includes the construction of an additional operating lane in each direction from the eastern Burnley and Domain tunnel portals, to where CityLink joins the Monash freeway just east of Glenferrie Road.
The upgrade will aim to reduce peak hour travel times, improve reliability along the freeway and improve safety.
Please note: During these works, traffic speeds along this stretch during the works times stated above will be reduced to 60km (unless otherwise noted) to maintain the safety of workers and motorists. Please observe the speed limit and drive safely.
